The grey has blackened,
No white,
The memories have faded,
Fireflies,
Your scent is gone,
You should be too,
But then you stand,
With a dark song.
It’s a pitch black sky,
There I walk,
Unseen.
Unheard.
If I were you,
There would be a star.
So well penned. I love each line of it

In some ways, this work evokes for me your poem “Why Draw the Line?”
I can’t think of a more perfect encapsulation of the kind of love that blurs personal lines and boundaries than the phrase “If I were you.” It is a perfect line! The narrative voice speaks to that merging, yearning to be SEEN by its mutual context, even as it faces that it now acts alone.
If I were you, I would SEE me.
But, thinking about it, I’m more likely wrong: the loss of love in ANY relationship leaves us unheard and unseen by at least some degree. Because we all depend upon being stars for one another, lighting the darkness by seeing us. Reflecting ourselves back to ourselves.
I could easily have this all wrong. If I do, I hope that’s okay. I just think poems want to be talked about, even by those who have missed the point of a poem entirely. Anyway, for what it’s worth, THANKS for sharing this one!

Your comments are so beautiful. Totally makes sense. I am glad you pointed out the ‘I would SEE me’.
With loved ones, we tend to see ourselves in them. Reflecting ourselves back to ourselves is a deep phrase.
I like the way you connect through poems. While the poems are written with deeper meanings, the interpretations are always amazing. 🙂
Thank you so much. This is beautiful. 🙂
I am eager to read your works, I shall be there sometime soon. 🙂

Oh Prakash this poem is just exquisite! So beautiful…when I read it twice I started to cry…remembering my husband Paul…he had the most lovely scent combined with the Jovan Musk Cologne he wore….the entire poem spoke to me….
Your writing just gets better & better…..
Fond regards, Sherri-Ellen
