Its April of 2020 and Day 04 of A to Z challenge. This year, I am doing Metaphors. Be it a movie, song, painting, book, idiom, etc. I plan to give a perspective to it with an explanation and a 8 line poem.
Metaphor: Domino Effect
A domino effect is a chain reaction. It is a cumulative effect of one event setting off a chain of similar several events. I am sure everyone has seen the video of falling row of dominoes. The term domino effect is used both to imply that an event is inevitable or highly likely and conversely to imply that an event is impossible or highly unlikely.
It has inspired several fields and domains. Mathematical Induction works on the same principle. There is also a movie named ‘Domino Effect’ which talks of the chain of consequences on families worldwide if global economy comes to sudden halt. There have been events to set the world records. But, here, in my poem, we talk love!
Poem:
Starts with nothing,
Then through the words,
Dust, shadow and breeze,
Hot-lukewarm, lukewarm-cold,
Through the wet eyelashes,
Calling to be in the arms.
You, a domino effect.
Please. Come back.
A love calling the loved. Not just during the lockdown. Maybe lockdown is just a metaphor for everything else.
Starting with nothing, and ending with nothing (maybe even with ‘loss’ of what was there when it was nothing).

Thank you! True of that!

Starting with nothing and ending with losing more than nothing. A not-so-desired situation for sure.

Maybe it’s an indication of the tough times we are going through but every word reminded me of our current situation.

That’s true as well. 🙂 Thank you for the thoughts. Any recent event, we tend to boil down to corona!

Hot lukewarm, lukewarm cold. I like how the lukewarm is both of these. Could sense the domino-effect!

Your poem reminded me of husband Paul…of being seperated when he had to be in Hospital for long periods of time…there were tears…. alot of sadness. Your poem reminded me of my love for him.
Paul is no longer with me physically but he lives on in my heart Prakash….
