Diwata

It’s April of 2023 and Day 04 of the A to Z challenge. This year, I am doing the theme legendary creatures from cultures and folklore and an eight line poem along.

Day 04: Diwata

Culture: A Philippine nature spirit.

Description: Diwata refers to the magical spirits from the elements of land and the nature ancestor guardian spirits. These sprits can be from a particular inanimate object, plant, animal, or place to the deities who humanize the abstract concepts and natural phenomenon. Each of the spirit has an associated conceptual bounding and storyline.

Diwata

Everything is abstract.
Meaning-less.
Meaning-far.
Nature stitches stories,
From land to sky,
Connects the shapeless,
Adds the spirits.
That and what, we never know.

Isn’t everything truly abstract? Will we ever know what nature wanted to ever tell us? Are we keen enough to listen to the undiluted reality?

Domino Effect

D2020

Its April of 2020 and Day 04 of A to Z challenge. This year, I am doing Metaphors. Be it a movie, song, painting, book, idiom, etc. I plan to give a perspective to it with an explanation and a 8 line poem.

Metaphor: Domino Effect

A domino effect is a chain reaction. It is a cumulative effect of one event setting off a chain of similar several events. I am sure everyone has seen the video of falling row of dominoes. The term domino effect is used both to imply that an event is inevitable or highly likely and conversely to imply that an event is impossible or highly unlikely.

It has inspired several fields and domains. Mathematical Induction works on the same principle. There is also a movie named ‘Domino Effect’ which talks of the chain of consequences on families worldwide if global economy comes to sudden halt. There have been events to set the world records. But, here, in my poem, we talk love!

Poem:
Starts with nothing,
Then through the words,
Dust, shadow and breeze,
Hot-lukewarm,  lukewarm-cold,
Through the wet eyelashes,
Calling to be in the arms.
You, a domino effect.
Please. Come back.

A love calling the loved. Not just during the lockdown. Maybe lockdown is just a metaphor for everything else.

Déjà vu

AtoZ2019D

Its April of 2019 and Day 04 of A to Z Challenge. I am doing Foreign word/phrase a day and 8 line poem for it.

Word/Phrase: déjà vu
Language: French
Meaning: a feeling of having already experienced the present situation

Poem:
in a parallel universe,
is another you,
the unstoppable you,
the youthful you,
the unexplored you,
sending the high tides,
waiting to make you feel,
déjà vu.

Interpretation:
The parallel universe here is our ambition and life goal that we dream of. If we work towards it diligently, that possibly is the best form of déjà vu. You aspire, you dream and one fine day, you stand to witness it with utmost satisfaction.
