Querencia

It’s April of 2022 and Day 17 of the A to Z challenge. This year, I am doing the theme – “Wordy Wonders.” I am selecting words that have deeper and graceful meanings, from across the globe and an eight-line poem along

Day 17 – Querencia

Origin: Spanish

Meaning: A place where you feel home, a place of your most authentic self. A place from which your strength of character is drawn and where you feel safe.

Poem

I have felt the
Querencia,
With you, around you,
And every single time,
I care less of world,
Less of word,
Because you,
Become my world.

We all have our people who make us feel at home. We don’t need luxury. All we need is to be beside and feel.

Word Pronunciation: kweeuh-ruhn-see-uh

Fly in the Ointment

F2020

Its April of 2020 and Day 06 of A to Z challenge. This year, I am doing Metaphors. Be it a movie, song, painting, book, idiom, etc. I plan to give a perspective to it with an explanation and a 8 line poem.

Metaphor: Fly in the Ointment

It’s an idiomatic expression that signifies something small that spoils the whole. The one small flaw that comes to light to spoil a faultless plan. It’s the ‘but’ we talk about.

The idiom dates back to ancient times when ointments was not just for medical purposes but more likely to be creams, oils and cosmetics. Ointment was a substance that one used to anoint (rub). I am using this metaphor for self-doubts that spoil the plan. Not just the plans though.

Poem:
The stories have to be lived,
For everything was once an etc.
Should I smile and hello?
As small like that,
Is this worth Turing award?
As bigger than that.
But, I am my,
Fly in the ointment.

I don’t know what, what to call it, but it stands in between. I am not sure if I have to cross it by thrashing like to an enemy or caring like to a love.

tête-à-tête

AtoZ2019T

Its April of 2019 and Day 20 of A to Z Challenge. I am doing Foreign word/phrase a day and 8 line poem for it.

Word/Phrase: tête-à-tête
Language: French
Meaning: a private conversation, a face-to-face meeting

Poem:
the night is dark,
the blanket is brown,
talking me to dreams,
tucking me in sheets,
diving into characters,
defining new roles,
tête-à-tête,
me and my soul.

Interpretation:
A calm and composed talk to within self is the best listener around!
