Duende in A to Z

It’s April of 2024 and Day 04 of the A to Z challenge. This year I am doing the theme of ‘26 Moments’ on my blog. I plan to pull out A to Z parts from diverse set which are more than just the parts and possibly describe the world of their own.  It can be a wonder, an invention, a community, the philosophy, a thought, a lead, a culture, a design, or basically anything that would make one wonder and ponder on.  26 imperfect petite flashes that are amongst and around us.

My everyday will have a selection, description, an eight line poem followed by an interpretation.

This Spanish word had me. Though the word from folklore translates to ghost or a goblin in Spanish and in other cultures, it has a profounder meaning to it. It majorly describes the art that can make you feel things. It describes the heightened state of emotion from an artistic performance. Art can have mysterious power that can move someone beyond emotions. Art can have a power to summon a deep feeling within and send down a secret chill vibe from heart to soul, leave us in awe and wire us into a world of imagination. All of that, one word – duende. An authentic feeling that can deeply move a person.

Poem:
There is a limitation,
In ignorance,
In Intelligence,
Innate.
And then there is an art.
I am moved,
Because it fits
In my imperfections.

While there could be a theory for everything, there must also be a theory for nothing. A nothing theory, possibly, all it says is – You got to see it. Else, there is nothing else to see. If you see, you see it.

Unicorn

It’s April of 2023 and Day 21 of the A to Z challenge. This year, I am doing the theme legendary creatures from cultures and folklore and an eight line poem along.

Day 21: Unicorn

Culture: Horse like creature from Medieval Bestiaries

Description: Unicorns are horse like, with legs of an antelope, tail of lion and single horn on head. The horn is supposed to be a magical healing horn. They are usually a white horse. The unicorn continues to hold a place in popular culture and it is often used as a symbol of fantasy or rarity.

Unicorn

You believe it or not,
Not,
In the deep,
Across the mountains,
In the sands,
In the faraway land.
But, amongst us,
Also, there are unicorns.

For magic to exist, one must believe that there is magic. As simple as that.

Faun

It’s April of 2023 and Day 06 of the A to Z challenge. This year, I am doing the theme legendary creatures from cultures and folklore and an eight line poem along.

Day 06: Faun

Culture: Human goat hybrid nature spirit from Greek and Roman.

Description: Fauns are depicted as creatures with the horns, legs, and tail of goat and head, torso and arms of human. They are portrayed with pointy ears. Roman story telling believed they enthused fear in the men who were traveling lonely in the wild inhibited places. They are also known for guiding humans in need. They are known for their love for forest and music.

Faun

You build walls,
You add windows,
You define boundary,
You fill it up.
Fill it with
Happiness and love.
For each of us
Is a magical spirit.

We all carry forms of spirits. The story telling has got be an inspiration to come real.

Day 05: Elf

Description: Well, the rule is we cannot touch the elves as they will lose their magic. They have been specialized into diminutive creature in tiny human form. They can be helpful or hindering. Tolkein has also used elf in his fiction.

Elf

And then,
All it takes
For one big change,
Is one small action.
And then,
All it takes,
For one small action,
Is one tiny hope.

One has to believe in magic for a real wonder to happen. A magic of believing in one-self and being/doing.

Meraki

It’s April of 2022 and Day 13 of the A to Z challenge. This year, I am doing the theme – “Wordy Wonders.” I am selecting words that have deeper and graceful meanings, from across the globe and an eight-line poem along.

Day 13 – Meraki

Origin: Greek

Meaning: The art of doing with soul, creativity and love to leave behind an essence of yourself in the work.

Poem

In the roads taken,
One can sprinkle magic,
Feel the air, fill the love.
Meraki, a dear friend.
In the roads taken,
One can take away magic,
Name it dust,
Meraki, a dear stranger.

We get a chance to name it magic or mayhem. Join the band of love, even when there is nothing to chose.

Word Pronunciation: may-rah-kee

Magic from A to Z

M

Its April of 2018 and Day 13 of A to Z Challenge. I am doing ‘Emotion’ a day picked from the bag of life, with an 8 line poem and a thought.

M is Magic.

Poem:
Greatest of things,
Are in hidden secrets,
Enclosed in magical charms.
Do you see it?
You can see it,
If you believe there’s magic,
Contained within,
Awaiting to fascinate.

Thought:
magic

The Mirror’s Fate

Indian Bloggers

This post is written for the daily prompt word, ‘Unfinished’.

Long ago in time, there lived a mirror which was visited daily by hundreds and thousands. It was believed that the mirror had a life. It was believed to house some sort of soul inside it. It had an ability to show things in a beautiful way. No matter how perfect the object seen through the mirror was, it always used to beautify it by adjusting the lines, colors, tones etc. Some used to say the mirror was cursed for it never saw beauty in anything. Some used to say the mirror had a boon to make anything look beautiful.

One fine day the community decided to place this mirror in front of another mirror. One huger mirror was built and finally held in front of it. You will not believe what happened to the mirror.  People were amazed to witness the scene. What happened was….
