Jengu

It’s April of 2023 and Day 10 of the A to Z challenge. This year, I am doing the theme legendary creatures from cultures and folklore and an eight line poem along.

Day 10: Jengu

Culture: Water spirit from Sawa culture.

Description: Jengu is a water spirit (like a mermaid) from the beliefs of the Cameroon Sawa ethnic community. They are said to be beautiful mermaid-like figures with long hair. They live in waters and bring good fortune to the ones who pray. They are also known for being intermediaries between worshippers and world of spirits. There is also Jengu cult.

Jengu

Everything,
Has a form.
A representation.
A soul.
Have you ever,
Had a dream?
And
Gave it an identity?

There is something intermediary between us and our dreams. A good sprit that helps us reach there. Only that, we might fail to see.

Je ne sais quoi

AtoZ2019J

Its April of 2019 and Day 10 of A to Z Challenge. I am doing Foreign word/phrase a day and 8 line poem for it.

Word/Phrase: je ne sais quoi
Language: French
Meaning: an indefinable quality that makes something distinctive or attractive, a quality that is hard to describe

Poem:
do you have that?
that,
je ne sais quoi,
which turns people on!
the same,
also turns a few off.
and on,
always comes with an off.

Interpretation:
We all got to build that ‘je ne sais quoi’. It’s love! That is what sticks around. That is what keeps a morning bright. Most importantly, not everything attracts everyone.
