Wrapping Up 2019

Have been doing this past three years now – to set the goals at year start and review them at year end. The goal post of aims set for 2019 is here at: Working Out 2019

Here is how 2019 was:

  • Make atleast 150 general blog posts on itsphblogCould do 35.
  • Post 120 technical blog posts in itsphbytesDid 5. That’s shamelessly a small number. I know.
  • Read a minimum of 100 research papers and document them – Did 20.
  • Read 20 novels taking up Goodreads Challenge – Completed 5.
  • Participate in Camps and NaNoWriMo (Work as ML in November, Camps in April and July) – Hurray. Done.
  • Take A-Z blogging challenge in April – Participated and Completed.
  • Get 20 top posts on IndiBloggerGot 2.
  • Write 10 ebooks (smashwords) – Published 2.
  • Conduct atleast 5 workshops on various domains (writing to research) – Conducted 2.
  • Finish 5 new courses – Completed 1.
  • Get 5 papers published (with collaborated research) – Done. 6 In-fact.
  • Get hard copy published for ‘i 4 you’ and release ‘things in nothing’ as ebook – Still in Progress. Could not work on ‘things in nothing’ at all.
  • Build atleast 10 workable components for Knit Algorithm – Built 4.
  • Build a better profile for our company – Knit ArenaDone. Better than last year.
  • Work in an entrepreneurship environment to get better insights in Hubballi – Started working as a Tech lead for a company.
  • Get a better Coder Portfolio – Better than last year.
  • Teach a new course – Taught.
  • Always try something new, often and more – Did. Always.

No complaints and no regrets. Definitely happy and I look forward for a competitive 2020.

Ten for Twenty Twenty

Ten simple rules for the better world. Ten simple rules to make ten more. 2020 could be it all if 2019 wasn’t. While some are living in memes, some have been one.

1-10 in 365

1. Get Physical.
Run, exercise, and stretch. Exhaust yourself with physical tasks at least three days a week. The jobs of sitting in front of wired screens are slowly killing us.

2. Degree and Education are Different.
Anyone can get a degree. Not everyone is educated. Next time you voice out for something, make sure you have read and understood it in holistic. Be an educated literate.

3. Time is Sexy.
Don’t make people wait. Whatever end you are in. It’s funny how people can sit at home and do nothing for hours but cringe to wait for two minutes in a queue.

4. Seasons are Fucked Up.
Nothing will change by posting and talking about it.  Awareness campaigns are equally shitty useless. Everyone now knows.

5. Do What Educated do.
Read and Write. Period.

6. Communicate and Commute.
Write meaningful emails and talk sense.  Know and use the etiquette’s.  Cut the slang usage. Use cars wisely.

7. Social Media.
It’s not everything. It’s nothing. Don’t just start living there. Not everyone needs to know every single thing you do.

8. Happy and Myth.
There is a gigantic difference between you being happy and others thinking you are happy. There are people for whom cooking is the happiest thing to do and they do it every day.

9. Make New Resolutions. Often.
Create a year bucket list and work towards checking all of those and ten more. Break it down to monthly and work seriously towards them.  Be careful about distracting glitters.

10. Dream and Aim Big.
‘Big’ don’t need motivation or any inspiration.

Winding Up 2017

2017

It was for the first time I had Resolutions in 2017 and it sure did not suck. May be for the reason that they were not actually resolutions, instead were a plan of action. Yes, I did not meet them all, but, Satisfactory? Hell yeah! Here is quick summary post of the list and yes, all this along with professionally tied works!

*****

1. The More Bucket:

1.1 General Blog posts:
The plan was to have 120 blog posts and ended up with 149 (including this). I know you all agree that blogging is definitely fun!

1.2 Reading Novels:
The plan was to stop at 12 and could not. It went to 20. The Year in Goodreads sums it all. Touched a lot of classics and definitely made my year.

*****

2. The Equal Bucket:

2.1 Technical Blog Posts:
120 was the goal and 120 it is! Questioning the quality of posts, I agree they were not to the expectation and got to improve.  They will in 2018.

*****

3. The Less Bucket:

3.1 Reading Research Papers:
The plan was 120 and I could go till 86. I still consider that as a good number but 120 should have not been difficult to achieve.

3.2 Coursera Courses:
Was supposed to complete 10 but the model changed and most of the courses were no longer free. Now the model also has a subscription fee as well. I could only manage to complete 3 courses this year. However overall I have managed to complete 31 by far.

3.3 Writing Ebooks:
07 out of 12 were completed and 03 are work-in-progress. I missed on this one badly. 100 Haiku , See, Say, Market Recommendations , Poem Shop , A to Z – Poem for an Idiom , The Web Circular , The Void and Hashing are the published ones.

*****

Others that made the Year memorable:

Apart from winning few prizes in the contests, getting a poem published in an anthology and teaching a class of super enthusiastic students, here are other things that kept me happy through the year:

  • Completing A to Z challenge in the month of April
  • Completing Two NaNo camps (April and July)
  • Working as a ML for NaNoWriMo India (November)
  • 4 version releases of my research work
  • My NaNoWriMo 2016 novel went through the first editorial review and I still have hopes of getting it published
  • Completing most of my technical text book
  • An hour long exercise everyday (with a break on sundays and when sick!)

It’s been an year which I am thankful about and to a lot of people as well! A year that has given me hopes that much better things can happen in 2018. I am going to set my goals high and better.
