Ageing, Society and We

‘What is Ageing?’

As per wikipedia definition, “Ageing is the accumulation of changes in a person over time”. The accumulation of changes is the key factor in the definition. Now what is the change? is the question to be asked!

Ageing is like our body is moving towards its end. We shrink, possess low energy, restrict things, the things which we used to do faster earlier start taking more time. We start slow in adapting to new things. Our mind is kind of more confused.

Ageing is part of life cycle and we cannot prevent it. Parts of brain die and only things learnt at younger age, we remember better. Our work efficiency decreases. Ageing is damage to DNA. We develop diseases and they cure slowly. As we start growing older we get socially isolated and our behavior changes. Little less can become too little and a little more can become too much.

With age comes the care

With age comes the knowledge to share

With age comes the wisdom

With age comes the thought of freedom

With age comes the responsibility

With age comes the superior path of stability

How to age? Is what comes next

You on this, have to do your best!

The Agenda ahead is to express the following:

1. What is Ageing? : Poem

2. What is it to be Old?

3. An Ageing Society

4. Ageing Well

  1. Hello PH
Well as someone who is a lot further down the road to ageing than you appear to be, I’d say you’ve got it pretty much spot on!
Just remember that youth and enthusiasm are never a match and are always out-done by experience, guile and age!
    Best wishes,
    Dookes

  2. Hi! I think wisdom comes with age as well. Physics states that a body in motion stays in motion and a body at rest stays at rest. That can be applied to people as well. I know people in their 60s and 70s that exercise regularly and are incredibly active. On the other hand, I also know many people who are in their 30s that would not be able to keep up with these older people because they’re overweight, out of shape, and unhealthy. They live sedentary lives, eat too much junk food, and drink too much alcohol. We all have to age, there’s no way around it but, we can age gracefully. If we keep active, we’ll stay active. 😉 Great post!
