Japan – Anime

It’s April of 2021 and Day 10 of the A to Z challenge. This year, I am doing the theme – “Travel the World.” I am visiting countries from A to Z and presenting stories with 8 line poems.

Day 10 Country: Japan

Anime is used to refer to all animated works irrespective of genre and English dictionaries define ‘Anime’ as animation originating in Japan. Animation in Japan began in early 20^th century. A claim for the earliest Japanese animation is Katsudō Shashin, for which the creator is unknown. Anime and Manga are popular worldwide – One Piece, Naruto, My Hero Academia etc are some of popular anime series that has got a huge fan base. As of 2016, Japanese anime accounted for 60% of the world’s animated television shows. Below is an image from Momotaro: Sacred Sailors (1945), the first feature-length anime film.
