It’s April of 2021 and Day 09 of the A to Z challenge. This year, I am doing the theme – “Travel the World.” I am visiting countries from A to Z and presenting stories with 8 line poems.
Day 09 Country: Italy
Oh, yes. Pizza is a flatbread from Italian origin. A wheat based dough topped with tomatoes, cheese, onions, anchovies, olives etc. The traditional pizza is baked in a wood-fired oven at a high temperature. A formal setting pizza in Italy is served un-sliced and to be eaten using knife and fork. One has to taste the original Italian pizza which tastes lot different from the ones we regularly have. A small pizza is usually referred as pizzetta and the maker of a pizza as pizzaiolo. Below is a picture of an authentic Neapolitan Pizza Margherita.
Poem:
The dough,
Needs a kneed,
Gentle and hard,
Mixed, layered, baked,
Sauce, cheese, veggies,
And some love.
The recipe travels places,
Finds a life of own.
Every new travel, every new visit, builds and creates a culture. Used and misused.
Yum yum… One of my favorites. Love the last two lines; they are so true for many things.

How awesome! My sister also cooks pasta with white sauce and lots o’ cheese! Sadly, it’s not every week. 😒

What a lovely choice for I. Italy is on my bucket list for all the Renaissance architecture. Rome and Florence especially. Unpopular opinion : not a great fan of pizza, but I’ve been told Italian pizza is a must have Italian experience.

Italy is known for its’ Pizza! I used to chum with The Intini Brothers back in High School (about 100 years ago) & their family had a Pizzeria in the East End of Hamilton. I used to go on the Bus across town to have authentic Pizza at their family restaurant….one of my fondest memories of the 70’s!
Your poem is wonderful….made my nite!

I know that is a funny thought..
I said that because the Intini Brothers & I decided in Grade 12 we were going to learning Plumbing Trade….
Life took me it a very different direction (Punch & Brake Press Operator) & Tow Truck Owner/Operator so I never did go to Plumbing school, 😉

Ahh thank you Prakash!! It was back in the 70’s & in Canada there was a quiet revolution going on! Women were working in factories, but doing light work. I came in & asked to be trained on the Punch & Brakes Presses. They were HUGE machines but I was not fazed by that. In fact learning to do a ‘man’s job’ was a good challenge.
Then I got back together with my ‘1st Love” & I begged him to teach me how to operate & run a Tow Truck. We were partners for 5 years in Towing. It was an amazing job. It was very hard work but good work. And I met so many lovely people. And saved quite a few lives. And lost a few people but I was there holding their hand as they passed away. (Some accidents were gruesome).
I do not regret a minute of my career…I only wish I could have stayed in the business longer 😉

That’s an amazing experience. I am so glad you got to live the experiences.
Works will get gruesome at times. You did accept the challenge well.
Thank you for sharing. Means a lot to me. 😀
