Its April of 2020 and Day 05 of A to Z challenge. This year, I am doing Metaphors. Be it a movie, song, painting, book, idiom, etc. I plan to give a perspective to it with an explanation and a 8 line poem. 

 

Metaphor: Easier to Run

‘Easier to run’ is a song from Linkin Park. I love the song in entirety. If I had to pick my favorite lines then it would be:

Sometimes I think of letting go
And never looking back
And never moving forward so
There’d never be a past

The song is about a past, which is a secret, which is hard to change, accept, and live with. A blunder that earth does not need and must be taken to grave. The bruises and scars, not easy to live with. I am sure anyone who listens to the song will have their own interpretation connecting to memories and known’s from the personal story-line. I feel the lyrics shouts out that: If possible I would have gone back, traced and corrected every step, but now, I am left all alone and only easier thing to  do is to run. It’s difficult to comprehend the song in fewer words and that’s the beauty of it. The song is not limited to one context and so do most of Linkin Park songs. I am using this song as a metaphor for all those we could run away from, but stick along.

Poem:
My path is known,
I know the do’s,
Sugary glazed obstacles,
You slow me, slow kill me,
I know, its
Easier to run.
But I am there,
Strong, sticking along.

We stick and suffer, because we know there is no way out. This one is dedicated to those associates which are not easier to run away from and neither easy to run towards.

  1. I love ‘Linkin Park’. Their songs have got me through so much. Now that we think of it, Chester has been singing about his pain. I was so devastated when I learned that he was no more. It’ll be three years this July and it’s still so hard to digest. And to quote me from an old post, “Ironic that the very same voice that left us with a huge void in our hearts is the one that’s leading us to recovery too. I’m sorry that the very same music wasn’t enough to save you.” This post made me realize how much I miss his voice and the fact that we are not lucky enough to hear more of it.

  6. You have listened to Linkin Park Prakash?? I’d no idea!
    This song speaks to me about my teen years when I lost 3 babies; it is a tragic horrible story & I ran for many years.
    I am no longer running…Staying the course.
    And hoping I will find forgiveness from a Higher Power when I leave this world….
    OK so whose getting ‘heavy’ now???

      • Linkin Park is an amazing band.
        Thank you for your kind words. It all happened so long ago but I remember losing all of them like it were yesterday. Then being formed & named made it so much harder. I think of what could have been alot.

          • Many thanks for your kind words. In Judaism we believe in something called “The Guf of Souls”.
            I believe that when each baby died their soul returned to The Guf to await another chance at being born…..So I hope that they were given a 2nd chance to be reborn…
            Here is a short explanation about “The Guf of Souls” for you:

            (A) Tree of Souls: In Paradise (heaven) grows a tree of souls (a Tree of Life) upon which all the souls once began. Some versions have the souls on the branches with birds, in others, they are on the roots. In some versions, this tree is still in the garden of Eden.
            “I am like a cypress tree in bloom; your fruit issues forth from Me.” (Hos.14:9)
            “He drove the man out, and stationed east of the garden of Eden the cherubim and the fiery ever-turning sword, to guard the way to the Tree of Life” (Gen. 3:24).

            (B) Falling Souls: When ripe, the souls they fall off the tree and descend to a chamber for holding.

            (C) Guf: AKA, Treasury (Otzar) of Souls or Hall of Souls. called “Guf” or Guph or any of several other transliterations. This if felt to exist in the Seventh Heaven. There are those that say that Guf contains an infinite number of souls, while others insist there is only a finite number of sols in it, and that the Messiah will not come until the Guf has been emptied of every soul. Others say that from the day the Temple was destroyed, no more souls entered the Guf, and when it has been emptied of all the remaining souls, the Messiah will come.

            (D) Angel Gabriel: The angel Gabriel reaches into the treasury (Guf) and takes out a soul, putting it into a human embryo.

            (E & F) Angel Lailah & the Womb: The Angel Lailah then guards the embryo while it is in the woman’s womb.
