Its April of 2017 and Day 07 of A to Z Challenge. I am doing Idiom a day and 8 line poem for the idiom.
Idiom: Guinea-pig
Meaning: one is a guinea-pig when made to take part in an experiment of some sort and used in the testing, where new ideas and products are tested
Poem:
You won’t believe what happened next,
You won’t believe what he said,
What happens next is amazing,
Fifth one is my favorite,
Etc etc crap,
Click baits on social platforms.
We,
The guinea-pigs!
Note: All the challenge prompts can be found HERE.
Sometimes voluntarily, sometimes involuntarily but we end up being Guinea pigs in so many situations.

I’m really curious how it was decided the guinea pig would be the symbol for the term–is there a real guinea pig? I’m guessing they must have made good subjects for scientific testing? But why, or how?

I did do a little reading on that. They have been used for testing since 17th century, later along came rats and rodents.
But the metaphor of Guinea-pig has still remained, as it carries the long old history!

I love the poem but I feel bad for the Guinea pig though. I’m sure it’s wondering what the hell did it do to deserve this definition 😛
