The 20 Years

This story is written for Sunday Photo Fiction: 17 April 2016. The task is to write a short story of 200 words or less for the supplied photograph.

Everything was blurred. It felt like something long lost was back. The vision was not clear yet. He could see his favorite road. It looked exactly the same like he had seen it last time. As he remembered, he was in the middle of the same road, hit by a vehicle leaving him unconscious. For that moment he had thought it was all over.

As he opened his eyes, he saw around many smiling faces. There was this one who was holding his hand firm with tears in his eyes.

He questioned him, “Who are you? Why am I on arm chair?”

He gently replied, “I am your son dad. You had been to coma. We thought bringing you to this road everyday might help. And that fine day is finally here!”

With many questions in his head he asked his son, “How long has it been?”

His wife replied, “20 years; exactly!”
